Tuyambaze Maniriho, 28, labors with a stillborn child at Masisi Hospital in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, July 31, 2014. Tuyambaze walked 12 kilometers to her local health clinic, which sent her a further 9 hours on foot to this hospital, only for her to learn that the baby she was carrying was not alive. It is her third still birth. In Tuyambaze’s village through last year there was heavy fighting between the Nyatura rebel group and the Congolese government army, the FARDC. “The Nyatura exhausted the population” said Elias Bazigame, nurse, head of vaccinations. " They took taxes, pillaged, killed, raped... even to their brothers. We don’t know why."
